Our origin story

The HarrisX story is grounded in innovation. In 2017, a team of former Microsoft executives at The Stagwell Group (now Stagwell Inc., trading as 'STGW') acquired the largest syndicated consumer research trackers in the Technology, Media and Telecom industries, from Nielsen, including data going back to 2005 and the beginning of Mobile and Mobility revolution. The suite of syndicated data products, originally focused on OEMs, wireless and wireline services, was expanded to cover the full experience of the modern Connected Consumer, including all connectivity platforms and OSs, mobile devices, automotive, wearables, and the full array of emerging technologies.

Focusing on wireless services and devices, OEMs, cable, ISPs, the emergence of 5G and IOT, and the proliferation of OSs, means we've built a historic and wholistic perspective on how information flows and consumers connect, but also of the limitation of self-stated and survey-based data. The outgrowth of this expertise brought the launch of the Bill Snapshots platform, capturing consumer bills and spending habits, and the launch of our telemetry and behavioral research platform and app, Telephia. While we're leading the way in Connected Intelligence, we're also driving constant bespoke research across 12 industries and 40 countries, bringing together a wide array of signals to understand modern consumers, voters, and business decision-makers. Ultimately, Connected Intelligence is Human Intelligence and vice-versa, and our goal is to excel at that intersection.

In 2022, HarrisX merged with Northstar Research Partners bringing together two storied companies with decades of expertise in strategy and research and creating a truly global footprint with offices in New York City, Washington D.C., London, Toronto and Singapore. Together we bring the focus on core human truths together with the spirit of being relentlessly relevant through deep research and innovative techniques and technologies. We are driven by three core hypotheses:
(1) The winning formula for excellence in world competitive business and political environments is Data + Creativity = Strategy.
(2) While "Big Data" will always be important, leaders are increasingly experiencing "Peak Data" and yearning for expert interpretation. The core hallmark of our Connected Intelligence is in adjudicating and bringing together a wide array of signals.
(3) Leaders today need better data, devoid of quality issues and biases. Our approach to modeling, machine learning, and AI starts with a singular focus on quality and accuracy.
